We are Chalk.

Chalk is a family focused organisation based in North East England which has been running since 2015. We aim to introduce children to culture through immersive activities and events, promoting accessible learning through play.

Chalk engages the whole family through music, film, science, art and design, allowing children to experience and form their own ideas and opinions.

The aim? To help children discover their own creative visions and re-evaluate our own, all whilst having a jolly good time together.

  • Gigs

    Gigs

Love live music? Don't go to enough gigs? Snap! We are programming gigs that you would want to go to, but you can bring your kids along so they can hear bands and music you love too. Just like a normal gig, but slightly quieter. Same amount of dancing, fist pumping and head nodding.

  • Cineplay

Welcome to a world of make believe with Cineplay, our programme of immersive, playful, cinematic fun for all ages. Take a trip into space, learn how to tame a lion, explore new worlds! All of our events are carefully designed with the whole family in mind, you'll all be able to take part in workshops, create wonders and above all, watch a darn good film.

  • Socials

Our socials are like a a night out during the day, so you can get back home, sit in your pants and watch box sets without the hangover, win win! Socials can involve a DJ, a live band, tattoo bars, photo booths, dress up stations and some mint crafting.

  • PlayLab

Science, coding, technology, construction and beyond! Our PlayLab series will see you making, breaking, building and exploring! From spaghetti challenges to scratch Lego, mapping cities to Raspberry Pi.

  • Commissions

We often programme, produce or curate events for venues, museums, festivals, galleries and projects. We’ve worked with BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art, Tyne and Wear Archives and Museums, Seven Stories National Centre for Children’s Books, GIFT Festival, Summer Streets, Northumberland National Park, The Cultural Spring and many more.
